When broadcasting cellphone signals become old skool, phone manufacturers need to broadcast more stuff – like video perhaps. The LG 9400 TV phone is a joint partnership with Verizon that allows the broadcasting of MediaFLO technology, a high quality broadcast service for mobile phones.
- MediaFLO uses a broadcast system for TV, unlike Verizon’s existing V CAST, which uses the existing EVDO cellular network. The result is you get fewer channel choices, but much smoother, clearer video with faster loading times and much less annoying buffering. Verizon’s system will go up against Modeo’s competing DVB-H technology, which is pretty similar (think of them as CDMA vs. GSM) when both launch sometime later this year.
The phone’s front can be flipped perpendicular to the bottom to give a widescreen view of your multimedia. I dunno really how this phone will create a new user base. I mean, people are already texting while driving so let’s allow them to go one further step and watch Scare Tactics while driving. A far reach for LG since their Chocolate Phone.
