According to the Wall St. Journal, Google could be moving into the fast-emerging video game advertising business by acquiring Adscape Media Inc.. While Adscape has its headquarters in Mountain View, Ca., it was started five years ago in Ottawa and the company’s R&D and design operations remain therel. To date, Adscape has raised $3.2-million in venture capital (H.I.G. Ventures is among its investors but it appears there are no Canadian VCs involved). While the WSJ didn’t provide a potential acquisition price for Adscape, Microsoft moved into the video game ad business last year when it purchased Massive Inc. for about $200-million. For more on Adscape, check out these Ottawa Business Journal stories (here and here).
