The jig is up. After weeks of speculation, the Philippine MMORPG market finally knows which online game publisher is bringing in Cabal. Here’s the official announcement:
E-Games Philippines, known as “the company that revolutionized the free-to-play model in local online gaming,” is proud to introduce this world-renowned, action-packed MMORPG to the gaming market.
Yup! You heard that right. E-games Philippines, the leading online game publisher of the two dominating titles in the local online game industry, namely Ran Online and Audition Dance Battle, is yet to introduce another luminary game title: Cabal Online.
Looking at the definition and origin of the word “Cabal” in an online resource, “the term cabal derives from Kabbalah (a word that has numerous spelling variations), the mystical interpretation of the Hebrew Scripture, and originally meant either an occult doctrine or a secret.”
With this we can assume that the game will revolve around a group of secret plotters that would make the game filled with uncanny twists, conflict, intrigue, and conspiracy.
Let me point out that E-Games’ use of the words “leading” and “dominating” in almost all their media releases have been points of contention in the growing Philippine MMORPG market. The presentation of this press release on MMOtaku does not in any way signify support for such claims.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s delve deeper into the world of Cabal. Just exactly what is Cabal Online and what should Philippine online gaming fanatics expect from E-Games’ newest baby?
Cabal Online is an action MMORPG set in a third person perspective. Like most modern MMORPGs, it includes a skill and class system, PVP system, and a guild system. It also utilizes a combo system within its gameplay that allows players to have more powerful attacks based on timing. The primary aspect of leveling in the game is quests. Typical quests involve moving from one place to another, interaction between NPCs, killing enemies, and dungeon quests.
Cabal Online is a game of multiple genres. It’s a combination of medieval, futuristic and fantasy. The game offers various “unique” features not available in other MMORPGs. The game is currently operating in different countries across the world, including China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Brazil, Indonesia, and the United States.
Well, that doesn’t really tell us anything we don’t already know. E-Games is keeping the lid tight on the project, but I’m sure we can squeeze more data out of them in the days to come.
