There’s a secret poker club near you – are you privy to the games? I’m not… yet. I’m trying to get in the game but I’ve been unsuccessful so far. My friend, Bob, is a regular player and he gave me a heads up last Friday via email but by the time I contacted the guy on email, the game was already full.
The group has a pretty cool set up. First, there is a website. Second, you have to register for it to login and get the news email. Third, the registration involves questions that ask for your first and last name and who referred you. I’m not saying it’s like cracking into an ancient religious power club such as the Priori of Sion, but they’re not letting Joe Blow just walk on in either.
There are exclusive clubs everywhere and for good reason. Poker games are prime target for robbers and some groups even pull a rake. The key is to get a good group together that you know and trust so poker is about poker and not wondering if someone is going to cheat you.
You really do have to create a list. You can add on to that list, but you need to be careful about who makes the grade. The wrong player can ruin the fun, start a fight, cheat, and steal money. If you have a public invite open to anybody who sees the ad, you’re asking for a recipe for disaster.
