Fair Grounds Recap – Jan 1st

Fast main track and yielding turf. Edge to early-pressing types (2 wire jobs) in the five dirt races. Stalkers and closers nabbed all for turf races.

Mena and Theriot both booted home a pair. Tom Amoss saddled two winners on the day.

On the analysis front, I had no highlights for the first time this meet. Guess I was due for an off day, and let’s hope for a big rebound on Saturday. The Jan 1st program had to be the toughest at the current stand. I had one top choice scratch, four run 2nd, and one finish 3rd in a frustrating day.

Fair Grounds Preview – Jan 2nd

A 10-race program will be run on Saturday at the Fair Grounds. Mostly sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 54. Pick 6 carryover of $13,137.

My daily full cards from Fair Grounds are available through Today’s Racing Digest (free sign up), and I will be posting a daily free pick on their site as well. Click here to view my Saturday free selection (4th race) from Fair Grounds.

Saturday’s feature race from Fair Grounds is the Furl Sail Handicap for fillies and mares traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the turf. Much Obliged goes for two straight local stakes tallies, and she is 3 for 3 over the New Orleans weeds. Category Seven always runs her race and will try to turn the tables on the aforementioned fav.
