According to Nielson’s list of the most used game consoles in the US, topping the list is Microsoft’s Xbox 360.  It leads with 23.1% of usage minutes among consoles. Though this doesn’t come as much of a surprise, you might find this next 41K2VDCPCNL._AA280_bit of news a bit shocking.

Nielson’s reports also show that coming in second place in Sony’s Playstation 2 with 20.4%, rather than their newest console, the PS3. In fact, the PlayStation 3 wasn’t even included on the fact sheet.  How embarrassing.

Some other interesting facts for you, according to reports, 73% of households in the US say that they own devices used for gaming. Also, 45% of gamers are women. To get even more specific, 49% of Wii owners are chicks, as well as 52% of PSP owners.

The PS2 is a fabulous system…even now. Not to mention it’s cheaper than dirt and you can get some great games for next to nothing.

The PS3′s downfall has been its price point. I prefer its controller over the 360′s and I’ve never regretted my purchase.

All that being said, it doesn’t surprise me one bit to see the 360 in 1st place.
