Fair Grounds Recap – Jan 9th

Fast main track and off the turf again. Five wire jobs on the main (4 in sprints), and note that five patient runners also tallied. Overall, speed ruled in sprints, and routes played fair.

Lanerie, Lebron, and Torres each booted home a pair. Back to back two-win days for Briggy/Asmussen.

The 30th running of the Dixie Poker Ace was taken off the turf, and Hallway nosed Desert Wheat in a thrilling finish. Shaun Bridgmohan booted home the Steve Asmussen trainee.

Josaka (Lebron-Foley) was clearly best in route maiden breaker (8th race). 3yo daughter of Smart Strike is one to keep an eye on.

Steve Asmussen is heating up at Fair Grounds.

On the analysis front, I got home best bet top Girlie Go ($11.40). I also tabbed the pick three ending with the 3rd race.

Fair Grounds Preview – Jan 10th

A 10-race program will be run on Sunday at the Fair Grounds. Mostly sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 44. Pick six carryover of $1,072.

My daily full cards from Fair Grounds are available through Today’s Racing Digest (free sign up), and I will be posting a daily free selection on their site as well. Sunday’s free selection is the (7th race) from Fair Grounds.

As mentioned above, Shaun Bridgmohan and Steve Asmussen have been clicking lately, and I’ll make them my combo to watch. On Sunday, they team up with Edwards (6th race), Bwana Moja (8th race), and Southern Region (9th race).

Daily results and video from Fair Grounds can be found here.
