Although the Dallas Cowboys are deep at running back, it would hurt to be without starter Marion Barber. The good news for the Cowboys is that Barber seems to be recovering from his swollen knee. He was limited last week against the Philadelphia Eagles and early this week in practice due to that knee.
On Thursday, Barber was able to get back on the practice field. Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips sounded optimistic about Barber.
Said Phillips: “He did run some and ran pretty well. That was an encouraging sign with him. Well see what he does tomorrow, but its looking better and better for him to be able to play.”
Barber has extra incentive against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend since he’s a Minnesota native who went to the University of Minnesota. If he isn’t able to play, expect the Cowboys to give the rock to Felix Jones quite a bit. While Jones is more explosive than Barber, he has also been injury prone in his NFL career.
