Charles Woodson won the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award last week, but Rex Ryan isn’t happy about it. Ryan not only said Jets player Darrelle Revis should have got the honor, he went so far as to be crass and say, ” I would like to congratulate the people who voted for Darrelle Revis… These guys obviously really know the game.”
Woodson got twice as many votes as Revis, and has had his greatest year yet at the age of 33. More than that, however, he was a key component in turning Green Bay’s defense around. In addition, getting this honor is rare for cornerbacks. The last one to do it was Deion Sanders in 1994.
What do you think? Should Woodson have received Defensive Player of the Year? Was Rex Ryan right in criticizing him?
