Of course, I’m not talking about LeBron James … I’m talking about Mike James.
And who exactly is Mike James?
Mike James is a guard for the Washington Wizards, a team that is currently imploding from the inside out thanks to the Gilbert Arenas saga.
James may not be as popular or as coveted as Lebron James himself, but he can still ball. And he’s the only James who has expressed his interest (on record) in playing in the Big Apple.
According to the New York Post, James is hoping that the Wizards will trade him to the New York Knicks before the Feb. 18th deadline.
“This isn’t how I envisioned it,” he said. “I want to get out of here. The coach [Flip Sanders] never had me in his plans. I could see [sitting me] if we’re winning, but you can’t tell me I can’t help now. MSG is the mecca. Every New York player’s dream is to play there.”
James grew up on the courts in the urban streets of New York, so he’d be right at home if the Knicks picked him up. But if Mike D’Antoni is holding out for the other James, otherwise known as “King” James, then the Knicks will want to save as as much money as they can.
LeBron is going to cost a pretty penny, far more than any Mike, Jim or Joe James would.
