Tim and Eric, of the Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, will be hosting the world premiere of Birdemic: Shock and Terror at The Cinefamily in Los Angeles on February 27. There will be a Q & A with Birdemic’s mastermind, James Nguyen and stars Alan Bagh and Whitney Moore after the screening.
If the hilarious and noisy trailer wasn’t enough to reel you in then perhaps this little quagmire will. In a press release received today, it was revealed that Birdemic’s distributor, Severin, will be “transforming the theater into a temporary aviary with epic displays of Birdemic special effects, props and costumes that will put the Smithsonian to shame.” Oh my.
The film is being described as a “romantic thriller” in the midst of a homicidal bird invasion in Northern California. After being rejected at Sundance, Nguyen devised a somewhat clever if not completely crazy tactic to get film festival attendees to take notice of his work. The 42-year-old Vietnamese refugee wrote, cast and shot the film over the course of four years using salary from his day job as a mid-level software salesman in Silicon Valley.
