Heading into the season, the Washington Wizards were built around their big three of Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler. With Arenas suspended the rest of the season, Jamison traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Butler traded to the Dallas Mavericks, the Wizards have to be strugging, right?
The revamped Wizards have now won three of their four games since the big chances. On Monday, Washington toppled the Bulls by a final score of 101-95. Andray Blatche has emerged as the team’s top piece. Against the Bulls, Blatche had 25 points 11 rebounds and two blocked shots.
With the win, the Wizards are now 20-34 on the season. Amazingly enough, they are only 6.5 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the eighth and final playoff seed. If Blatche and the Wizards can keep putting Ws on the board, they could become the Cinderella team of the Eastern Conference.
