Ubaldo Jimenez threw the first no-hitter of the 2010 Major League Baseball season and the first in the 18-year history of the Colorado Rockies. As he admitted after the game, Jimenez owes a Dexter Fowler catch a big thanks for the no-no against the Atlanta Braves. (Video of Dexter Fowler’s catch can be seen at the end of this article.)
In the seventh inning, Troy Glaus hit a looping drive to center field. Fowler closed fast and was able to make the spectacular catch.
“The way he dove,” said Jimenez, “I was like unbelievable.”
Pitching in Atlanta, Jimenez had six walks and seven strikeouts and threw 129 pitches. He was even good with the bat, batting in a run in the fourth inning with a single. The four runs the Rockies scores were easily enough with the way Jimenez was pitching … and the way Fowler was patrolling the outfield.
