Dustin Byfuglien’s three goals (two in the first period) gave the Chicago Blackhawks a lead they would never relinquish as they defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Wednesday night. It was the first playoff road hat trick for the Blackhawks in 38 years. Chicago now has a 2-1 series league in their Western Conference Semifinal matchup.

Blackhawks goaltender Antti Niemi made 31 saves and stopped all 16 Vancouver shots in the first period.
“He was great. He had some key saves,” Blackhawks defenseman Brian Campbell said. “They came at us pretty good there in the first. A couple of our changes were suspect, couple turnovers. If we keep that out of our game, we won’t have to give up all those chances that Antti stopped.”
Game 4 is set for Friday night at GM place as the Canucks hope to even up the series.
