Every baseball fan on the planet was eagerly awaiting the debut for Stephen Strasburg. As it turned out, Stephen Strasburg’s debut was better than anyone could have imagined. The pitcher for the Washington Nationals had 14 strikeouts in his debut and picked up a win as the Nationals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by a final count of 5-2.
Other than a two-run homer he gave up in the fourth inning, Strasburg was nearly flawless. He gave up only three other hits and didn’t walk a batter in his seven innings of work. The last seven batters who dared go up to the plate struck out. Strasburg was, to put it simply, amazing.
Said Pudge Rodriguez: “I’ve been catching a lot of guys but this kid is unbelievable.”
That coming from Rodriguez, who is a future Hall of Famer and has been catcher for 20 years, means a lot.
If you are a baseball fan, there is no way you can miss one of Strasburg’s games now. We knew he was a stud … but we didn’t know he was this good.
Pull up a seat. You won’t be sorry. Stephen Strasburg is amazing.
