Kassim Osgood, a wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, jumped from a second story window on Monday night — and for good reason. Osgood was trying to flee from his girlfriend’s gun-toting ex-boyfriend. Julian Armond Bartletto, the ex-boyfriend, has been arrested and charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery, burglary, false imprisonment and violation of a court injunction.
Things got serious quickly after Bartletto found Osgood and Mackenzie Rae Putnal “watching television” together. Bartletto, with a bag over his head, pistol-whipped both Osgood and Putnal and then pointed the gun at Putnal’s head. Putnal was able to escape and retrieve a gun. While shots were fired between the two, Osgood jumped out a second story window and went to a neighbor’s house to call 911.
“I’m aware of it,” said Jack Del Rio, the coach of the Jaguars. “I really can’t comment on that whole deal. He’s doing OK.”
Reports indicate that Osgood only suffered minor bruises during the ordeal. After playing with the San Diego Chargers for seven seasons, Osgood signed with the Jaguars in the offseason.
