NBA general managers aren’t yet buying the Miami Heat hype. In the annual NBA general manager survey, the general managers picked the Los Angeles Lakers to win the championship — by a surprisingly large margin. The Lakers got 63% of the vote, while the Heat only got 33% of the vote.
Who is going to win the Western Conference? The results weren’t close; 96% of NBA general managers have the Lakers coming out of the West. The same percentage have the Lakers winning the Pacific Division.
Kobe Bryant also got a lot of respect. He finished second in the NBA MVP prediction behind Kevin Durant. Who do NBA general managers wish to build around? Kobe Bryant finished tied for third.
The general NBA public is ready to crown LeBron James and the Heat as the new kings of the NBA. However, general managers aren’t convinced … yet.
Then again, this could be a case of sour grapes. There are more than a dozen NBA general managers who are upset that LeBron James and Chris Bosh decided to join the Heat instead of their team.
