Gilbert Arenas was on his best behavior at the start of training camp. Known for his fun-loving ways, the Washington Wizards guard was all business. Unfortunately, Gilbert Arenas’ good behavior didn’t even make it ot the start of the regular season. Arenas was caught lying once again and the Wizards were forced to fine him.
Last time, Arenas’ lie involved guns and got him suspended for 50 games. This time, Arenas lied about being injured and was fined an undisclosed amount. The drama began after Tuesday’s game that Arenas missed due to a supposed knee injury. When asked about his knee injury, Arenas came clean to the media.
Said Arenas: “I told (teammate Nick Young) I’d sacrifice playing tonight so he can get some time in because I know he’s kind of frustrated he’s not getting a chance to crack the (small forward) position, especially since we’re going three guards. So I told him I’ll go and fake an injury or say something’s wrong with me so you can start.”
Yeah, not the smartest thing to say, Gilbert. Before the NBA could investigate, the Wizards decided to step in and fine him. Arenas, of course, didn’t man up even after being caught lying again.
“I wasn’t really thinking that this was going to be another media outburst,” whined Arenas. “It’s like everything I do now, someone, tit for tat, tries to blow it out of proportion.”
Gilbert Arenas obviously hasn’t learned anything yet. Let’s hope he does before it’s too late.
