Who is the best pitcher in the World Series? It very well could be Matt Cain — and not Cliff Lee or Tim Lincecum. Riding Cain’s pitching arm, the Giants beat the Rangers 9-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the 2010 World Series. Cain has now gone three starts in these playoffs without allowing a run.

In the fifth inning, Edgar Renteria hit a solo homer to give the Giants a 1-0 lead. Little did anyone know that San Francisco wouldn’t need anymore out of their bats. However, after the Giants scored one run in the seventh, they exploded for six runs in th eighth.

The series now moves to Texas for the next three games. The Rangers have a good chance of taking Game 3. Colby Lewis will be on the mound for the Rangers, and he has a 1.45 ERA in the postseason. Add in the fact that the Rangers are much better with their bats when playing in Arlington and this World Series should get much more competitive quickly.

Then again, the Giants have been able to beat the odds so far these playoffs.

Stay tuned.
