Yesterday, we showed the video of LeBron James bumping Erik Spoelstra, the head coach of the Miami heat. Today, LeBron James denies that he hates Spoelstra and says that he didn’t bump him on purpose. The Heat, who have a record of 9-8 after beginning the season with championship expectations, play the Washington Wizards tonight.
Spoelstra, who has come under a lot of fire for the Heat’s slow start, is putting a positive spin on things.
Said Spoelstra: “I call these ‘healthy conflicts’. I truly believe these are good for a team. As long as you can survive these, it’ll make you stronger.”
As for LeBron, he makes it sound like there are no conflicts.
“As far as me and Spo being frustrated with each other,” said LeBron, “I don’t think there is. I have Coach Spo’s back.”
When asked specifically about the video that showed him bumping his coach, LeBron again brushed it off.
Said LeBron: “I didn’t realize it and I don’t think coach realized it either until it was brought to our attention. Incidental contact, I guess.”
If the Heat keep losing, LeBron won’t be the only one trying to take a shot at Spoelstra. There’s no doubt his head will be on the chopping block unless the Heat start heading north of the .500 mark.
