Andrew Luck, the star quarterback for Stanford, has announced that he is staying in school and not entering the 2011 NFL Draft. While staying in school is usually noble, it isn’t in this case. In fact, Andrew Luck is stupid for staying in school and not jumping to professional football.
If he entered the 2011 NFL Draft, Andrew Luck would undoubtedly be the No. 1 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers. While their roster is relatively decent, the Panthers need a quarterback — and all but promised their fans they’d select Luck if he were available.
Passing up the chance to be the No. 1 overall pick isn’t smart, but that’s not the worst of it. Due to the probable upcoming NFL lockout, there is expected to be changes to how draft picks are paid. In other words, future draft picks will likely earn a lot less money than they currently do. So not only is Andrew Luck missing out on being the No. 1 pick, he’s missing out on a big payday.
There’s literally nothing good that could come out of Andrew Luck playing another year at Stanford. Too bad he’s too stupid to realize that.
