The Baltimore Orioles are close to signing Vladimir Guerrero according to a numerous online reports. The DH played with the Texas Rangers last season and helped the team reach the 2010 World Series. The contract Guerrero is being offered is unknown at this point, however it’s rumored to be for one season and around $5 million.
Last year with the Rangers, the 35-year-old native of the Dominican Republic hit .300 with 29 home runs and 115 RBIs. Going into the offseason, Guerrero wanted a lucrative two-year deal, however the market on available DH jobs has dwindled to the point that he doesn’t have much room to negotiate.
As far as the Orioles are concerned, Guerrero would be another big stick added to their lineup. Earlier in the offseason, the Orioles added Derrek Lee and Mark Reynolds.
