Going into the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Blake Griffin was the overwhelming favorite. In his rookie campaign, the Los Angeles Clippers forward has thrown down some of the most epic dunks ever seen on an NBA court. While Blake Griffin, as expected, won the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest, the best dunker on the court was actually Javale McGee of the Washington Wizards.
Javale McGee, a raw seven-foot center, threw down the most memorable dunks of the night. When he wasn’t dunking two basketball on two separate hoops, he was dunking three basketballs at the same time. Blake Griffin, on the other hand, had a couple good dunks but nothing overly impressive.
In fact, Blake Griffin’s most talked about dunk — the dunk over the car — wasn’t even that impressive. He jumped over the hood of the car and did so at an angle. It was a quality dunk but it’s also a dunk that a large number of NBA players could complete.
Congrats to Blake Griffin for taking home the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest trophy. Congrats to Javale McGee for being the night’s best dunker.
