There was a ton of action on the 2011 NBA trade deadline. Usually, there is a lot of smoke but not that much fire on the trade deadline. However, this year was different. Huge names switched teams. Good teams made big trades. How did each team do? Here are our official EveryJoe.com grades:
New York Knicks get Carmelo Anthony: B+
The Knicks gave up a lot but they wanted a big name to build around and they got it.
Denver Nuggets trade Carmelo Anthony: A-
The Nuggets were able to milk the Knicks even though NY had leverage.
New Jersey Nets get Deron Williams: A-
If Deron Williams signs an extension, this grade will be even higher.
Utah Jazz trade away Deron Williams: A
Deron Williams was a distraction … and was probably going to leave in free agency in 2012.
New Orleans Hornets get Carl Landry: A
The Hornets needed bigman depth. They got one of the better bench bigs in the league.
Atlanta Hawks get Kirk Hinrich: B
The Hawks needed an upgrade at point guard.
Portland Trail Blazers get Gerald Wallace: B-
The Blazers took a risk that Gerald Wallace isn’t declining.
Oklahoma City Thunder get Kendrick Perkins: A-
If healthy, Kendrick Perkins is a legit center.
Boston Celtics get Jeff Green: F
What were the Celtics thinking?
