Since the NFL lockout ended, Frank Gore made no secret about how much he wanted a new contract. On Tuesday, Gore got that new contract. The San Francisco 49ers locked up their talented running back with a three-year deal worth approximately $21 million. Of that total, about two-thirds of it is guaranteed.
When healthy, Gore has been a very good player for his entire career. He averages 4.7 yards per rush during his seven years in the NFL — all of which have been with the Niners.
Last season, Gore only played in 11 games due to a broken hip. He totaled 853 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, 452 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
This year, expect the Niners to run their offense through Gore once again. They won’t have a very good passing attack and will need their star running back to shine if they hope to reach the postseason.
