David Stern finally gave the okay. After a few failed trade attempts, Chris Paul is now officially a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. The New Orleans Hornets traded their superstar point guard in a deal that brought back Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and a first round draft pick.
With the Clippers, Chris Paul will pall with Blake Griffin to form what will go down as a legendary one-two punch. The number of alleyoops in L.A. will be sick. DeAndre Jordan, the starting center for the Clippers, will also be in the highlight reels on the receiving end of alleyoop passes from CP3.
As for the Hornets, the two major pieces they received are Eric Gordon and the first round draft pick, which is actually the Minnesota Timberwolves selection in next year’s draft. Gordon is arguably the best young shooting guard in the league, while the T’Wolves draft pick is virtually guaranteed to be in the lottery.
David Stern has to be breathing a sigh of relief. He can put this Chris Paul trade drama behind him … although there will be a number of Los Angeles Lakers fans and Houston Rockets fans who will never forget.
