The Boston Red Sox have decided to clean up their act. After reports surfaced last season that some Boston Red Sox players were routinely drinking beer in the clubhouse, it was obvious that the team had to do something to change that culture. This weekend, the Red Sox announced that they have banned beer in the clubhouse.

That’s bad news for Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, John Lackey and all the other players rumored to be a part of the beer problem.

Red Sox DH David Ortiz said that he was fine with the decision.

Said Ortiz: “We’re not here to drink. We’re here to play baseball. It ain’t a bar.”

Bobby Valentine, the new manager of the Red Sox, said that there’s one goal for the players on Boston’s baseball team.

Not to embarrass themselves or the team, the community, their teammates, themselves,” said Valentine. “I don’t think that’s a new rule. It’s a long-standing rule of life.”
