Joe Francis, the owner of the “Girls Gone Wild” franchise, is unhappy with Madonna. The pop star has a new song that was entitled “Girls Gone Wild” and Joe Francis sued to try to get her to stop using the name. Before the lawsuit got to court, Madonna decided to listen to Joe Francis.
Instead of totally changing the name, Madonna changed the name of the song to “Girl Gone Wild”. Apparently taking off the S wasn’t enough for Joe Francis. He’s telling anyone that will listen that Madonna is still infringing on his copyright.
Technically, he’s right. But he should let Madonna have it. How many more years can Madonna claim to be a Girl Gone Wild without seeming creepy?
And, besides, Joe Francis could use the publicity. “Girls Gone Wild” is a thing of the past. Nowadays, we can just dial up a website instead of ordering a video off of a television commercial and then waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
