Evan Longoria is the ultimate fantasy baseball tease. If you watch him play, he looks like a superstar ready to break out. However, if you look at his actual production, he just hasn’t ever been an elite fantasy baseball player. This year, Longoria is again one of the most sought after players in the fantasy world.
Personally, I think it’s a mistake.
Last season, Longoria hit just .244 and his on-base percentage as .344. Yes, he had 31 homers but his 99 RBIs and 78 runs weren’t very impressive.
Instead of drafting Longoria in one of the first couple rounds, I recommend to wait around and get a third baseman later in the draft. He’s a really good player but he’s not the fantasy superstar you need in the first couple round of your draft.
My 2012 Evan Longoria fantasy projections: .268 batting average, 28 homers, 100 RBIs, 88 runs and 8 stolen bases.
