David Price is getting overlooked a lot in fantasy baseball this season — mostly because he had a sub-.500 record last season for the Tampa Bay Rays. He finished the season 12-13 with a 3.49 ERA. That record was especially disappointing because he was 19-6 the previous season.
However, look closer at his numbers and you’ll see he was just as good as the previous year. First of all, his strikeouts were up — from 188 to 218. Secondly, his WHIP was down — from 1.19 to 1.14.
Going forward, David Price should continue to be a stud pitcher. Last year after the All-Star game, he very nice 3.21 ERA. An added bonus is the Rays should win more games this year, which should improve his win total.
My David Price projections for 2012 fantasy baseball: 3.29 ERA, 16-9 record, 1.15 WHIP.
