The Charlotte Bobcats and Boris Diaw recently agreed to a contract buyout. A lot of teams were interested in signing Diaw including the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat. However, Diaw has decided to sign with the San Antonio Spurs. Diaw becomes San Antonio’s fifth bigman.
Diaw said he wanted to play on a team that shares the basketball. With the Spurs, he found that exact type of team. Diaw’s great passing ability should shine with the Spurs.
Diaw’s role with the Spurs is unclear. Currently, Tim Duncan and DeJuan Blair start with Tiago Splitter and Matt Bonner coming off the bench. You’d figure that Diaw will knock one of those players out of the rotation, however which one isn’t clear.
The Spurs have made a lot of changes recently. They traded Richard Jefferson for Stephen Jackson and then agreed to terms with Patty Mills. Adding Diaw is another step in the right direction for San Antonio.
