Earlier, we discussed the Derrick Rose torn ACL injury. Now we have the video. As you can see in the video, Derrick Rose’s knee injury happened with less than 1:30 remaining in the game with the Chicago Bulls up by 12 points.
While I feel horrible for Derrick Rose, I can’t say I’m overly surprised. Tom Thibodeau, the head coach of the Bulls, has been playing his guys a lot of minutes this year. And he’s been very demanding. Add that to a compacted schedule of games due to the NBA lockout, and injuries like this are bound to happen.
Prior to this injury, Derrick Rose had already suffered numerous other injuries this season — including turf toe, a back injury and a wrist injury. There’s no doubt, however, that this torn ACL is the worst of the bunch. In fact, it may be a career altering injury.
As for Thibodeau, he isn’t taking any of the blame. He says Rose needed to get in shape. We’ll see if the Chicago management feels this same way. There are already rumblings that Thibodeau could be in big trouble with his bosses.
