Opponents are going to crowd the paint and force Team USA to win games from the perimeter. The biggest reason why that strategy probably won’t work is Kevin Durant. The superstar for the Oklahoma City Thunder who led his team to the 2012 NBA Finals is a deadly shooter — especially when he’s open.
Not only can he shoot, Durant’s length makes it virtually impossible for the shorter international teams to challenge his shots. And when teams do challenge his shots, Durant is more than athletic enough to drive to the hoop and finish with authority.
In addition to scoring, Durant’s rebounding and surprising shotblocking abilities will be on full display. In the 2012 London Olympics, don’t be surprised if Durant is the team’s leading scorer.
