The Dallas Mavericks have inked veteran point guard Derek Fisher. Fisher was a free agent after playing with the Oklahoma City Thunder last season. He’s expected to sign a one-year deal with Dallas.
Fisher should step in and get a good amount of playing time right away. Darren Collison had recently been sent to the bench. With no one else ready to step up (and Collison now injured), Fisher is set to start and play big minutes. Eventually he’ll probably split minutes with Collison.
The Mavs could become a dangerous team once Dirk Nowitzki returns. Between Nowitzki, Fisher and other veterans on the squad, the Mavs have the know-how to put a scare into any opponent.
