Since playing his way out of the NFL, Donovan McNabb has tried to shine his legacy. Usually, his attempts are more humorous than anything. But this time, when he stood up for his former coach Andy Reid, he actually had a point.

Said McNabb: “Making it to the NFC Championship is not easy, and I think they’re starting to see that right now, that getting to the playoffs and going to the NFC Championship consistently, it’s just not that easy.”

Under Reid, the Eagles are 130-92-1 but only 10-9 in the playoffs. He has coached the team for 14 seasons. Though undeniably successful, Reid gets criticized for not being able to win the Super Bowl.

“People want to make it look like you have nothing to show for it,” said McNabb. “Well, we have a lot to show for it.”

The Eagles had a lot of expectations this season but failed to even get in the playoff hunt. As a result, Reid is going to lose his job. But, as McNabb notes, that doesn’t seem to be entirely fair.
