It’s never easy replacing a legend. Kevin Ollie is doing just that — and so far, the results are positive. Kevin Ollie is the new head coach at UConn following the retirement of Jim Calhoun.
Last year, in Calhoun’s final season, UConn went only 20-14. This season, Ollie has led the Huskies to a 9-2 record.
To show how much UConn appreciated his work, Ollie has been given a new five-year contract. Previously, he was working on only a one-year deal.
Ollie went to college at UConn and then spent 13 seasons in the NBA. He was hired by Calhoun in 2010 as an assistant coach.
