The Brooklyn Nets fired Avery Johnson after Deron Williams started whining too much. Now that the head coaching job for the Nets is open, who should take over?

According to reports, the Nets want Phil Jackson or Jeff Van Gundy. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, neither coach is a realistcic candidate. The Nets simply aren’t talented enough for Jackson to consider. As for Van Gundy, he won’t return to the NBA in a situation where he will only have limited say in the front office.

One coach that makes sense is Flip Saunders. He’s known for his offense and could help the Nets score more points. Another name to keep an eye on is Kelvin Sampson, who is currently an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets.
