The New York Giants were dominant in Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles, winning by a final score of 42-7. However, it wasn’t enough for the defending Super Bowl champions to reach the postseason. That fact became official when the Chicago Bears defeated the Detroit Lions.
“Our goal was certainly to be there,” said Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. “Our goal was to win the division. We didn’t do that either. We won nine games and there is no way anyone can talk us out of that. We do have the nine wins, but it’s not good enough.”
Eli Manning had perhaps his best game of the season. He was 13-for-21 for 208 yards and five touchdowns.
As for the Eagles, their season ended a long time ago.
