Jay Ratliff, the starting nose tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, has been arrested after a car accident involving his pickup truck and an 18-wheeler. Ratliff wasn’t injured but he was charged with DWI. The accident took place in the Texas town of Grapevine shortly after midnight.
This has been a bad year for Ratliff. In the 2012 football season, he played in only six games due to injury. His backup, Josh Brent, was charged with manslaughter after a alcohol-related car accident involving Brent’s friend and teammate Jerry Brown.
The 31-year-old has had a solid career but the Cowboys may look elsewhere after this incident — especially if he doesn’t heal completely from his injuries.
