Aron Baynes is the newest member of the San Antonio Spurs. The center from Australia got his first extended look on Wednesday night against the Charlotte Bobcats. Baynes finished with seven points, nine rebounds and a blocked shot in 18 minutes.
Is Baynes worth much in fantasy basketball? First of all, it’s going to be difficult for him to get extended minutes. Against the Bobcats, the Spurs were playing without three bigmen: Tim Duncan, Matt Bonner and DeJuan Blair — all three were out with injury.
The short-handed Spurs used Baynes … but before you sign him to your fantasy basketball team, make sure he is still getting minutes after the Spurs are completely healthy.
If Baynes does play, he can bring rebounds and block shots to the table, in addition to some points in the paint.
