As we told you last night, Tony Parker injured his ankle and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich wasn’t optimistic about his return date. Popovich was right because it’s now reported that Parker will miss four weeks due to the injury.

While the Spurs have the best record in the NBA, they’ll be challenged to win without Parker, who was having an MVP kind of season before his ankle twisted. If you are a Parker fantasy basketball owner, you are probably scrambling for a replacement.

Let’s look at the Parker replacement candidates on the Spurs:

  • Nando De Colo has started a few games for the Spurs this year. While he’s not a great scorer, with increased minutes he could help you in multiple categories including three-pointers, assists and even rebounding.
  • Patty Mills is the best scorer of the bunch. However, that’s pretty much all he does. Don’t expect much more than points and three-pointers from him.
  • Gary Neal is the most experienced of the potential Parker replacements. If he starts, look for him to average in the neighborhood of 15 points and five assists.
  • Cory Joseph is a second-year player who has been playing in the NBA D-League for much of this season. He definitely has the most upside but he’s also a long-shot to get minutes.

Good luck on replacing Tony Parker on your fantasy basketball team. You’re going to need it.
