Serge Ibaka isn’t regarded as a dirty player. His elite athleticism makes him a great defender without much physical contact. However, last night Ibaka definitely was dirty. Check out the Serge Ibaka punching Blake Griffin in the groin video below.
As you can see in the video, Ibaka takes a full wind-up before chopping Griffin in the testicles. Amazingly, he was only charged with a flagrant one and wasn’t ejected.
On top of that, the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Los Angeles Clippers 108-104. In other words, it was a rough, rough night for Griffin.
The irony is that this play was similar to a play in college by Clippers superstar Chris Paul. Paul, who played at Wake Forest, punched Julius Hodge in the groin and ended up getting suspended.
Will Ibaka get suspended? Probably not, especially since the refs didn’t think he even needed to be ejected.
