Carolina pulled their goaltender due to a penalty. If New Jersey would have possessed the puck, play would have stopped. But since Martin Brodeur didn’t have possession, play continued — and you can see what happened.
This actually isn’t Martin Brodeur’s first goal. He had one in the regular season previously and a playoff goal back in 1997. Three Martin Brodeur goals? Not bad at all for a goalie’s career.
