Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics is battling left ankle inflammation. The Celtics believe that Garnett needs two more weeks off before he’ll be ready to play. The All-Star power forward has sat out three of Boston’s previous five games.
On the season, Garnett is averaging 14.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. He’s also shooting 49.1% and 78.5% at the free throw line.
The Celtics need Garnett back ASAP because they have lost four straight games. As it stands, Boston is two games ahead of Milwaukee in the standings. Falling behind the Bucks would be devastating because it would bring about a first round matchup with the Miami Heat.
Without Garnett, the Celtics are 2-3 this season.
