A Laura Wellington Facebook message has gone viral after telling her story of a Boston Marathon hero. On her Facebook page, the runner said she was close to competing the marathon when the bombing took place. She was unable to finish the race and it took her time to reach her family by cellphone.
After she confirmed that her family was okay, Laura Wellington sat down and started crying. That’s when a man approached her and asked if she finished the race. She said no and then the man took of his medal and put it around her neck. He then told her that in his eyes, she was a finisher.
Laura Wellington said thank you to the man and then he moved on. She reached out to the unknown man on Facebook — and he was able to be identified. The man turned out to be Brent Cunningham from Alaska. The two have now been in contact — so there’s a happy ending to report!
