Already a well-known surfer, Shawn Dollar is now a legend. Following a measurement, he became an official world record holder after paddling into a 61-foot wave. The monstrous wave was at Cortes Bank, which is located approximately 100 miles off the coast of California. Check out the 9 Shawn Dollar pictures below to get an idea of the magnitude of this great feat.

During a recent interview, he explained that this attempt was either do or die. If he fell, it would have been nearly impossible to save him. And I believe him! A wave that is 61 feet is deadly if a mistake is made. Even a wave half that size can easily kill.

Is this professional surfer ready to stop? No chance. He says he can do even better and he wants to find a higher wave to paddle onto.
