Dalton Smith Identified as Shooter in Hofstra Home Invasion

Dalton Smith, a career criminal who was wanted for a parole violation on a robbery conviction, has been identified as the man who committed the home invasion robbery near Hofstra University.

Dalton Smith - Andrea Rebello Killer

The 30-year-old man broke into the home and took its residents hostage before a gunfight with the police erupted, resulting in the deaths of a student, Andrea Rebello, as well as Smith.

Rebello, her twin sister and two other people were at the home at the time when Smith, armed with a shotgun and wearin a ski mask, forced his way into the home around 2 a.m.

When the police arrived, the gunfire began. It’s still not known whether the 21-year-old Andrea Rebello was killed by Smith’s gun or shot accidentally by the police.
