According to a report, an individual called in a death threat against San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker. The caller, who used a pay phone, made the threat with five minutes remaining in Game 1 of the 2013 Western Conference Finals between the Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies.
Police aren’t giving much more information about the incident — which was first reported by WOAI.com — other than to say that security was increased the rest of the game and after the contest. In fact, cops protected Parker on his way home.
Was it a Grizzlies fan? That would make sense. Parker was slicing is way through Memphis’ defense and finished the game with 20 points and nine assists. With the Frenchman leading the way, San Antonio rolled to a 105-83 victory.
Let’s hope this death threat was an empty one and the perpetrator will be caught.
