After Game 5, LeBron James talked about playing like he was back with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He said that nothing was going right so he reverted to his old style of play. While it sounded like an innocent comment at fist, after thinking about it, I’d be upset if I were one of his Miami Heat teammates.
LeBron is basically saying he beat the Indiana Pacers by playing 1-on-5. His Cavs team sucked and lacked anything resembling a supporting cast. Thus, by comparing the Heat to the Cavs, he’s basically say his current teammates suck.
Sure, Miami’s role players aren’t playing up to their potential. Hell, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have underperformed so far in these playoffs. But part of the reason their numbers are down is because LeBron is dominating the ball so much. It’s difficult for others to have an impact when The King is taking or creating virtually every shot.
For LeBron to play championship basketball with his actual Heat teammates, he needs to get back to playing team ball — not Cavs ball.
