No American has ever defeated Mount Midoriyama and the challenge may have just gotten harder. The new season premiered tonight and out of the six obstacle courses, four of them have never been seen and, without a doubt, they look extremely hardcore.
The first contestant really struggled but the second person, experienced veteran Brian Rozsko, made it look so much easier. We even saw NFL defensive back, Jordin Babineaux, try to qualify.
It was an exciting night filled with many new faces – some women, some guys wearing nothing but speedos and one guy with the most ridiculous beard and hair… but, really, the new course was the most interesting part.
In the first area, instead of four relatively reasonable platforms at the beginning of the course, there are now five, super steep steps. After that, there’s this thing that almost looks like a magnet and contestants have to wedge themselves inside of it while it slides down to the next platform.
By far, though, the toughest thing seemed to be the flying nun chucks. First, the athletes have to hit the trampoline just right, grab the handles and then swing across and catch a second set of handles. Most people just could not get past it. The ones who did, however, were able to scale the warped wall.
In the end, only six people made it through but they were all pretty impressive. It will be pretty cool to see how the other contestants hold up in future episodes. It was a great way to start a new season.
